The Registrar

Lady (Mrs) Stella Nnenna Njaka

History was made on Thursday, 6th August, 2015 with the emergence of Lady (Mrs) Stella Nnenna Njaka as the sixth substantive Registrar of Federal Polytechnic, Oko. She was declared winner and most qualified among other nine contestants drawn from within and outside the Polytechnic, in an intensive interview conducted on Monday, 3rd August, 2015 by a Ministerial Panel from Abuja.

The emergence of Mrs. Njaka as Registrar is quite unprecedented, given the fact that she is a female; the first to have broken the jinx of a position hitherto occupied and controlled by men in the 30 years existence of the Polytechnic. Lady Njaka’s prowess at reaching the last rung in service pose a classic example for the Polytechnic community, the larger society and particularly the female gender, that success does not come by mere wishes rather through total commitment and hard-work.

Born 56 years ago to the Royal family of Nze Godfrey and Bridget Ogbenna of Omuma-Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State, the young Njaka in her characteristic manner finished her primary and secondary education in flying colours and embarked on further studies. She has to her credit the following qualifications: National Certificate in Education, Bachelor of Education, Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Master’s in public administration.

‘Nne-Obioma’ – a title conferred on her by the Late Bishop Okafor of Awka Diocese served the Polytechnic in various capacities, such as: Executive Officer (1993 – 1994), Higher Executive Officer (1994 – 1997) and Senior Executive Officer (1997 – 2000). She later served as an Administrative Officer from (2000 – 2001). Through promotion she became an Assistant Registrar from (2001 – 2003), Senior Assistant Registrar (2003 – 2006), Principal Assistant Registrar (2006 – 2010) and Deputy Registrar from (2010), until her appointment as Registrar in 2015.

Mrs. Njaka has a knack for excellence and hard-work – a virtue she has inculcated into all her subordinates who worked under her. She has an innate inclination for getting things done right. This peculiar attitude has culminated into a tripartite visionary policy which will serve as her lodestar throughout her tenure in office. This is based on peace, equity and fairness, harnessed to complement the indefatigable Rector, Professor Godwin Onu in his desire of making this Institution “The Polytechnic of the Moment”. Ever before being appointed Registrar, she used to be overwhelmed by the rapid transformation Professor Onu’s administration has brought to Federal Polytechnic, Oko in terms of qualitative education, infrastructure and human development. Having realized that the worst enemy to any organization is corruption, she has braced herself to join hands in the war against corruption. This she intends to do through setting up a standing committee to complement the roles of SERVICOM and ACTU.

Lady (Mrs) Njaka is a devout Catholic. Irrespective of her tasking official duties, she devoted most of her energy in the work of God. Her meritorious service in the vineyard of the Lord has earned her several awards as, “Nne obioma, Nneoma Nwere Ugwu”, “Ada Ife”, “Ugo-si-mba”, among others too numerous to mention. Besides, she has never failed in her domestic role as a mother. Lady Njaka is happily married to Sir, Chima Njaka, a retired chief Lecturer and former Head of Department, Printing Technology Federal Polytechnic Oko.

The marriage is blessed with 7 children of high repute.  To God be the glory.
